Problems 5G will create
5G sounds great in every way, but there is a price to pay, that price be in jobs. More autonomous farm machinery means fewer jobs of that kind in rural areas. Electromagnetic signals by mobile devices and base stations may cause health risk to humans and animals.
5G is offering a significant increase in speed and bandwidth, but its limited range will require lots of infrastructure. Higher frequencies will have higher directional radio waves, which will mean lots of high frequencies will be close together which may not be safe for people to live next to.
Building a network is expensive, its not just building a layer on an existing network, its laying the groundwork for something new altogether. There is 5G enables smartphones coming in, but there availability will depend on how expensive they are to manufacture and how popular 5G network becomes. Building such a high frequency network is very expensive. Since lots of cell towers are needed, lots of money will be poured into 5G being available.
Security and privacy will have a big impact on people. This is the problem with data driven technology, 5G falls under the authentication and key agreement (a system designed to establish a trust between networks), but it would be possible to track people nearby using there phones and eavesdrop on live phone calls.
5G was first launched in a few American and South Korean cities in 3rd April 2019. Though early users found the internet super fast, they had some issues as well. This was manly because the ka band mmWave frequency used in there cities, didn’t work very well if there were objects between the cellular transmitting tower and receiving device.
Problems 5G will solve
5G will massively help rural areas, it will enable new ways of farming and living. Rural Americans are having a broadband problem, many people are dependent on a slow DSL, limited 4G, or unreliable satellite service, 5G will help this issue. Low latency networks and massive Internet of things will play massive roles in agriculture and health care.
5G will help farmers to get better profits, farms will be studied with sensors that collect data to feed back to machinery. Farmers will have full views of all their crops 24/7. It will help with virtual physical therapy and surgery, bringing capabilities to rural health centres that may have required to have to go to another hospital with better facilities. When people get older, autonomous cars will help with transport.
