Introduction

5G is the next generation of broadband connection. It is the new wireless communications system that will help connectivity. At the moment, most of our devices run with 4G,  5G is the next step up and will transform the way the internet works.

5G offers greater capabilities than 4G.  5G uses radio waves to transmit and receive data, it will replace most cable  systems with wireless. 5G has 100x capacity of 4G as it is operated on the ‘cloud’. It is the next generation of mobile broadband that will eventually replace 4G. With 5G, you will have faster download and upload speeds, latency, or the times it takes devices to communicate with each other will decrease. At first, 5G will stand beside 4G, after 5G is installed over a lot of places, 4G will slowly be taken away

There are already 5G networks being put into places for testing and evaluation. AT&T has a ‘fake’ 5G, which is said to be 4G with extra bandwidth. Our average 4G transmission speed is currently somewhere around 21 Mbps mark, 5G connection speed will be between 100 and 1000 times faster , making it possible to download (for example) a HD movie in 10 seconds.

Example – If you were to download a 2 hour movie, with 3G it would take 26 hours, with 4G it will take 6 minutes, and with 5G it will take 3.6 seconds. Which is a dramatic difference and change. 5G has to potential to transform and change the internet.
